Athlete of the Week- Let’s Go Mustangs!

9/25/2024

Athlete of the Week- Ending 9/20

Makaio Makaio Wright ( XC-Men’s)
Makenzie Mical (Field Hockey)

Makaio caught the XC bug last year and has been running like a beast since day one. While he did not have a season best at the MOT Township Championship, he was our team’s number one runner, upsetting a few others on the varsity squad. He’s got grit, tenacity and perseverance. He reflects on his performance after every practice and race and takes well to coaches instruction. He is becoming a leader among his peers. Congratulations Makaio.

As Captain of the Varsity Field Hockey Team Makenzie has worked hard at improving the teams efforts and team unity.  During Games, even when Makenzie has experienced setbacks, she has persevered. Her ability to stay focused on the task has showed others how a captain should lead and maintain focus without blame or negativity in the game. Congratulations Makenzie!

MOT Charter- Athletes of the Week ENDING 9/15

Congratulations to our Mustang Athletes of the Week!

Carson Green (XC Mens, Captain)
Nadia Nyannor (XC Womens, Captain)

Carson set the goal to make it to the Varsity Squad last season and officially met it during the FIRST meet of the season. He was the fifth runner for our Varsity Boys team Friday, coming in at 22:56 at Lums Pond shaving off 1:18 from his practice 5k time. Carson brings spirit, grit, and compassion to every practice and every meet. To be honest, our Coaches believe the team would truly follow him anywhere.

Nadia earned Athlete of the week as she showed amazing leadership and growth this week during our first competition. One of our top runners became injured last minute. Nadia let her know how valued of a runner she was to our team and encouraged her not to run so as to not risk further injury. She was the voice of the team at that moment. And then with tenacity, grit and spirit, she came in first for our varsity girls team, with a time of 26:41 - shaving off 3mins from her 5k training time!!

Male Athlete of the Week

Adam Noll (Varsity XC)

This is Adam's first year in XC and he has found an absolute love for the sport. Before beginning our competition season, Adam was a strong Varsity alternate. He has now raced his way into a varsity spot, which he we continue to race for every day. From the first invitational to this past meet, Adam has shaved off 1:27 in his time, and fought for the final finish with the FSMA runner just out of his reach. Adam runs by example, challenges himself and those around him, and has become a leader on the team. Congrats Adam!

10/4/2023

Female Athlete of the Week

Ally Lorenzoni (Field Hockey)

Ally scored 2 goals and had 1 assist in our 4-1 win over AI duPont HS on Wednesday and then followed with another strong showing against DMA the following day. Ally was instrumental in the team keeping the score knotted at 0-0 in the first half. Unfortunately, DMA found the net multiple times in the second half, but it was a great overall team effort. Congratulations Ally!

Nahla Smith- (V Volleyball)

Nahla Smith is a returning Varsity Volleyball player. Since the beginning of this season, Nahla has become someone who wants to help others succeed. She tries to stay consistent with her efforts on the court and makes others around her feel included. Nahla has stepped up to help build the connections throughout the volleyball program at MOT. She goes out of her way to help both the freshmen and JV players whenever she can, and cheers on her teammates through every obstacle and success. Congratulations Nahla!!

DIAA State Tournament- Volleyball Ticket Sales

DIAA Partners with GoFan to Offer Digital Ticketing for 2021-2022 Championships

Dover, DE (November 1, 2021) – The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) is going touchless for all 2021-2022 championship athletic events. The new digital ticketing platform, GoFan, will allow DIAA to operate more efficiently prior to the game and at the gate while creating a safer and enhanced experience for students and fans.

The transition to cashless systems and digital tickets for athletics has accelerated over the past year. Digital ticketing and event management platforms such as this have been adopted nationwide as the faster, more secure way for high school fans to purchase tickets and attend events.

Fans will be able to purchase tickets online through each event’s unique web link which can be conveniently accessed through a smartphone or computer using a web browser or directly on the GoFan app. The unique link to purchase tickets for each event will be posted the DIAA digital ticketing web page.  Digital tickets can either be displayed at the gate on a digital device or printed and brought as paper tickets. All tickets must be scanned at the gate prior to entry.

“DIAA is confident that this change will improve the state tournament fan experience for buying and redeeming tickets while at the same time making event management much more efficient,” said Donna Polk, DIAA Executive Director. “We look forward to providing digital ticketing at DIAA state tournament events.”

“We’re excited to launch our 38th state association with the DIAA and work alongside schools throughout Delaware,” said BJ Pilling, GoFan CEO. “High school sports bring communities together, and GoFan is honored to support that tradition.”

Visit get.gofan.co for more information.

For media inquiries contact Alison May at Alison.may@doe.k12.de.us.

Spectator Policy - Beginning 1/11/21 (Basketball)

Welcome Back Mustangs!

I wanted to reach out to our families and make sure that everyone is aware of our current spectator policy at MOT Charter High School for all athletic contests.

Along with many of our fellow Diamond State Athletic Conference schools, we have decided that we will

Update Fall Sports 2020 - 2021

7/16/20

At MOT Charter our goal is to provide our student athletes with the opportunity to safely participate in Cross Country, Field Hockey, Boys Soccer and Volleyball in the safest possible environment this fall. This means that it is imperative that all student athletes, staff, and families are aware that we will be strictly following CDC, DIAA and Delaware Public Health guidelines and regulations with regards to pre-season documentation, screening processes prior to all athletic activities, proper social distancing measures and sanitizing practices.

Please note: The DIAA Regulations and DPH/CDC health guidelines we are expected to follow may change based on the release of new updated information regarding best practices and policies. We will do our best to make those changes known to students and families as efficiently as possible.

In accordance with the DIAA Covid-Impact Regulations the rules for the 2020-2021 School Year with regards to the required DIAA Physical Form for High School Sports have been adjusted.
  1. Required Completion of the DIAA Physical Form for 2020-2021 and Supplemental Documentation: These must be printed, completed and signed by all necessary parties prior to completing STEP 2!
Freshman, Transfer Students and First Time Student Athletes:  In accordance with DIAA, ALL incoming 9th Graders, transfer students and students wishing to participate in athletics for the first time in high school must submit a NEW completed DIAA Physical Form that was completed and signed off by a licensed medical provider on or after April 1, 2020. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE

Returning Student Athletes who participated in 2019-2020 Sports at MOT Charter High School:
In accordance with DIAA, students who participated in sports at MOT Charter High School during the 2019-2020 Academic year and still have that physical on file with the Athletic Director will be permitted to participate in FALL Sports after they complete the supplementary pages of the 2020-2021 DIAA Physical Form and these forms are reviewed by the Athletic Department and designated medical personnel.

*The required DIAA Physical Form with detailed instructions on the required supplementary forms can be found at the link below.

https://www.doe.k12.de.us/Page/3300

*Please Note: These supplemental forms will be reviewed with your prior DIAA Physical Form to assure there is no concern for student health and safety and that all medical guidelines are able to be followed. If approved, returning students may participate in Fall Sports only, but will be required to get a NEW physical form completed before Winter Sports Tryouts occur in November.
  1. Electronic Submission of DIAA Forms and Supplemental Documentation:  This step should ONLY be completed after all necessary pages of the DIAA Forms are printed, completed, dated and signed by all necessary parties as you may only upload the forms one time through Permission Click.
This year we will be using electronic submission for all DIAA Forms, Supplemental Documentation and Student Academic Agreements for athletics through Permission Click. Students and Families will submit fully completed documents through permission click for review and approval by the Athletic Director and designated staff.

Important Update Fall Sports

Good Evening MOT Student Athletes and Parents,

We are off to excellent start to our MOT Charter High School Fall Sports Season- the students and coaches are full of positive energy at practice and are very excited for what we hope this season will bring.

As of Monday, 8/19/19 all members of the Fall Sports Teams should have received the Academic Eligibility Agreement for Soccer and are expected to turn those in no later than Friday, 8/23/19.

The fee for ALL Fall Sports is $150.00 per student athlete and is due by no later than Thursday, September 5, 2019. Payments can be made online or in the form of check or cash. Payments in the form of cash or check must be submitted to the Athletic Director or the front office in an envelope that is clearly labeled with the students name and sport.

*NEW* Fundraising Program for Fall 2019
Last winter, our Basketball Teams piloted a fundraising program through a company called “Snap-Raise;” each student athlete participated in creating a 30 second video clip asking for support of their program. The videos looked great and both teams were very successful! Therefore, this fall we will be using that same type of program with BSN Sports- this is the company that we use for gear, uniforms and our Sideline/Spirit Wear store.

We will no longer require our teams to put in time at two events at the University of Delaware. Rather, we are asking the following:

Each student athlete will participate in BSN Go Fund Me and is asked to send out at least 20 quality emails to friends and families with the link they are provided with. Funds raised will go towards supporting our growing Athletic Program.

For Parents: When you receive the link from me, I do ask that you check out what our AMAZING Mustangs are doing and then share the link through your favorite form of Social Media or text or email.

Sincerely,

Mrs. J

All DIAA Forms must be reviewed and approved by the Athletic Director prior to attendance at any tryout or practice. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

*Please Note: if you wait until just before tryouts to submit this form for review and the form is incomplete, you may not have time to get them fixed before tryouts. This is a State of Delaware Law & DIAA Regulation and NO EXCEPTIONS can be made.

*A copy of the required DIAA Form is attached to this email for your convenience.

2.)    Students must be academically eligible in order to participate in tryouts. Please take a few moments to review the academic eligibility section of your student handbook prior to attending tryouts. In accordance with DIAA, eligibility will be based on the first quarter report cards and will be enforced on the date they are published to students. Students who become academically ineligible after tryouts will not be able to attend practices or games during that period of ineligibility.

3.)    Tryouts will be held on Friday, November 9th (afterschool) and Saturday, November 10th. Attendance at both tryouts for boys and girls basketball is mandatory to make the team (unless you are running in the State Championship Event for XC.)

Boy’s Tryouts are as follows:
Friday November 9
5:00-7:00pm All Grades
Saturday November 10-
10:00-11:00am for freshmen and sophomores
11:00-12:00 for juniors and seniors

Girl’s Tryouts are as follows:
Friday November 9
2:45-4:45pm All Grades
Saturday November 10-
8:00-10:00am All Grades

Additional information regarding Basketball Tryouts and Practices will also be posted on the MOT Charter High School Sports website (https://www.motchartersports.com/  prior to tryouts.) I strongly encourage both students and families to visit this site frequently in preparation for the Winter Season.

Thank you,
